WOMAI
WOMAI at ul. Pawia 34 is a science-and-senses centre with two guided exhibitions. “Towards the Light” runs about 90 minutes in groups of at most 10 to 12. “Towards the Dark” runs about 60 minutes, with roughly 50 minutes in full darkness, led by a blind or partially sighted guide, and it starts at age 9.
Two exhibitions, both with a guide
WOMAI calls itself a centre of science and the senses, at ul. Pawia 34 in Kraków. The company on the booking page is Centrum Nauki i Zmysłów Womai sp. z o.o. The public offer is not a free-roam hall. The FAQ says you cannot visit the attractions without a guide, and that entries are at set times listed under “Buy a ticket”. A visit can run from 1 to 4 hours depending on what you add. A games zone by reception and a souvenir shop sit outside the exhibitions. The two exhibitions for individual visitors are “Towards the Light” and “Towards the Dark”, plus experiment shows and workshops that the homepage lists separately.
“Towards the Light” is 90 minutes. The page describes it as a meeting with light in several forms, with where colours come from, and with how sound actually works. Visitors test the exhibits themselves. Groups are small, at most 10 to 12 people, with a guide who adjusts the talk and answers questions. The same room is used for a version aimed at families with children aged 3 to 7. On that version the guide slows down and each station takes about 5 to 10 minutes. The centre asks you to be sure a child can stay with an exhibit for that long. On a standard “Towards the Light” slot, a child who disrupts the group can be asked to leave. Children under 3 go free because the exhibition has nothing built for that age, and every participant over 3 needs a ticket. The page says the exhibition is offered in Polish and English. Reduced tickets cover children, young people, students and seniors over 65.
Fifty minutes without light
“Towards the Dark” is 60 minutes on the clock and about 50 minutes of total darkness. Groups are at most 8. The guide is blind or partially sighted and talks about daily difficulties and about pursuing interests, while visitors try to function as a blind person in a setting the centre calls completely safe. Because of the darkness, the age floor is 9. There are also slots reserved as adult-only, without children. Like the light exhibition, it is offered in Polish and English, and you do not wander in. Entries follow a published timetable.
Weekday opening on the pages checked is Monday to Friday 8:30–16:30, Saturday 11:00–20:00 and Sunday 10:00–19:00. Come 10 minutes before the slot. Weekend individual times are usually published in the middle of the previous month. Weekday times tend to appear on the Thursday or Friday of the week before. Online tickets stop 30 minutes before the start. After that, only the desk sells them. In November 2026 the centre lists closures and short days: shut on 1 November, open 10:00–18:00 on 2 November and on 9–13 November. The phone is +48 12 313 23 59 and the email is womai.krakow@gmail.com.
FAQ
Is WOMAI step-free, and how do I get to Pawia 34?
The FAQ says the building is adapted, with lifts, and that disabled visitors and a carer get 20 percent off both exhibitions. It also says you should email or call first, because whether a given attraction fits depends on the disability and on the equipment you use. No bus line, stop or walking time is printed. The address is ul. Pawia 34, 31-154 Kraków. Phone +48 12 313 23 59, womai.krakow@gmail.com.
Can I walk in without a booking?
No. Every attraction is with a guide at a set time. Buy on womai.pl or at the desk. Online sales stop 30 minutes before the start. After that, only the desk has tickets, if the slot is still open. Weekend times are usually posted in the middle of the previous month. Arrive 10 minutes early.
Which exhibition is for a child?
“Towards the Light” has slots for ages 3 to 7 in the same room, with about 5 to 10 minutes at each station. Under 3 is free on that exhibition and needs no ticket, but every older child does. On a standard light slot a disruptive child can be asked to leave. “Towards the Dark” is about 50 minutes of total darkness and is from age 9, in groups of at most 8. Some dark slots are marked as without children.
